    Cctv

I have been confusing myself looking at CCTV for outside my house, too many to choose from! What I "think" I would like is to be able to record continuously but would also have the capability to view on a phone via an app if it picks up a movement/heat source. I think I would also prefer one that doesn't have a monthly subscription, don't mind having a go fitting it myself.
Should say I want two cameras for now with capacity to add a couple more in the future if needed.
    Many thanks

I went for a Ring camera to cover the yard and have not been disappointed, have paid out for recordings in the cloud but it is just a yearly payment. Went with the one which has solar charging and not had any problems with the battery running down, installed in November and battery has been at 100% most of the time.

I did purchase an extra silicone cover just to add extra water protection for the camera as it is in an exposed place and was just airing on the side of caution.
Cheapest place I found the camera believe it or not was QVC. 185

I've got a 4 Channel DVR at home with 1 outside "Dome" camera at the moment, also a 12" monitor in the lounge so I can see what's going off outside. Also possible to view it on the main 55" TV for a bigger picture. Can see who's at the door to decide whether to answer it or not, see if the bin men have been etc. There are actually 2 dummy cameras outside too as a deterent.

At work we've got the same 4 Channel DVR with 3 external cameras and 1 in the reception. Don't know the exact model but it says "Prime" on the front. Local Sparky supplied and installed it all for a reasonable fee 2 or 3 years ago.

With this FREE app http://superlivepro.co I can view either system on my phone from anywhere in the world with a web connection, each having a different password. There's options of Live, Playback, individual or all 4 on the work system with 4 cameras, log of who has signed in etc. There are 3 of us with access to it.

My son and daughter have access to my home one too with their phones and the same app so they can check for signs that I'm in, out, still alive etc.

Great stuff, wouldn't like to be without it now.

I have a swan set up, 2 weeks 1080 recording, came with 2 camers but can support 4, no fees, has a great app that I find easy to use. I got mine for 259 from maplina. I know maplins has gone now, just giving you a target price, I think rrp was 300

Look at prices. Have one showing drive one at tge back, record to SD card so you have LIVE to phone app as req, playback recording on an hourly basis. snapshot or video rec.
Can speak or listen, but for me the best thing was NO routing of cables back to a monitor. All you need is a power source. Plug in, follow set up then view on app on phone.
Play back can be a bit clunky but overall we are well pleased with them.

Been looking at similar myself and am all but settled on a Hikvision NVR. Price wise they look decent and the quality looks awesome. I have a friend whos now a qualified Hikvision installer (after Id already settled on them) and he keeps raving about them

                      I'd recommend checking out http://www.cctvwholesales.co.uk/
Bought 5 cameras (+ hard drive & wiring) and only had one issue, where a power adapter went faulty, which the replaced no questions asked.

I used a site called safe.co.uk and got a swann 4 camera (wired) setup 1080p - records around a week with it on all night and on motion detect during the day. I don't have any complaints aside from night vision can get a bit blurry from a street light out front but aside from that a great little system. Comes with an app and cloud storage, it's great when you go away and to be sat around a pool and check in on the house and car if you want to as long as they have WiFi...
