I really think that some of you are missing the point.
It has nothing to do with 0-60 times or top speed, nothing to do with engine size or even the fact it has an electric motor or two (or more maybe), or what colour it is.
The point is that it has nothing in common with any Mustang ever built and doesn't even resemble one in anyway. Ok the lights might be similar and it has a horse badge stuck on it but that about it. You could do exactly the same with a Mondeo/Fiesta/Focus etc or even the Ranger and have a pickup version, why not?
With regards to marketing I don't see the connection between the two, surely no one will go into a showroom to buy a S550 and come out with one of them instead or visa versa?

It was bound to happen at some point an electric mustang if you look at you tube lots of people going on about it and loads make the comment that the worst thing Ford did to tarnish the mustang name was release the S550 with the 2.3 eco boom POS engine their words not mine .
personally the spec of it and features its a great car not 100% sold that they should have put mustang on it but they have .
Its got some classic mustang features in its styling .
At the end of the day its done and we have to live with it ,no need to run off to the hills and sell your mustang its not likely that they would turn up to shows or meets but hey if they did I would want a look s .
I have had the same resentment for owning a S550 at some meets its not a classic its not a left hand drive at the end of the day its a mustang and the GT version is seriously fast
Its good business sense for ford to market as a mustang they are not around to keep the mustang clubs happy.
I agree that the overall green ness of electric vehicles is debatable with raping of the world for the nicad batteries that take place and the limited lifetime of them and you only moving the pollution from streets to power stations I think hydrogen is the way to go myself the most abundant element in the universe.

I will ask at the AGM tomorrow but I can't see from the clubs present mission statement how the car could be excluded when it carries the Mustang name, it would put the club in an awkward position as we even welcome members who do not own Mustangs. As Mustangs go it is outside what the present idea (concept) of a Mustang is but it may well be the future and how things go. I can remember back in the late 70's when the idea of the muscle car and V8s were thought to be confined to history - but that never happened as power has gone up and up. Its very difficult to predict.

of me parking next to you at shows and events it’s called a Mustang Mach E therefore it is fully entitled to join this club and be a member, what next no Bullitts because it has no reference to Mustang on car sorry but like the 550 get used to it and if mustang USA except it then so will you

    thank you

    PS mine is on order
Haha, not sure what the aggression is for though. Aggressive behaviour won’t have people warming to you at shows and you may find people distance themselves from you. I like to think that this owners club is a friendly place not like that Facebook tripe. Im not a lover of the car and won’t buy one but I won’t be rude to you or make demands.

I see the specification details are on the website now, and they promote it is worthy of the Mustang name due to the performance, so I did some research.
The funny thing is the 0-60 time of a Mustang Mach E is less than a second quicker than our Beetle diesel daily driver :-)
Mach E <8.0, 2014 Beetle diesel 8.6, and it has the same 0-60 time as a 1.4 TSi according to Parkers.

They could have called it a Kuga as it has more in common with that model than it will ever have with a Mustang. I am sure it will be a perfectly good modern car if you like that sort of thing, still not a Mustang in the real sense.
Wonder if Chevy and Dodge will follow suit with their own version of Camaro and Challenger? Or maybe Viper and Vette people carrier.

With this in mind, Allan, your comment on the club mission statement being up for discussion means that this needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. Whilst I agree that anyone can join despite what they drive, it should not follow that there must be a slot in this forum to discuss the new car.

From my previous post the SUV may well have been given the Mustang name, but it is neither a sports coupe or convertible like every other member's car on here. You could scribble 'Mustang' on the side of a four wheeled skip, but it doesn't give it any sort of entitlement to be compared with our cars. Using that arguement the SUV shouldn't be given space on here. I'm sure whosoever buys one would rather associate with other owners on their own forums or social media groups anyway, but it's preferable to try and neutralise the inevitable sniggering and xxxx taking from other muscle car groups now as opposed to later when the Mustang name has been well and truely sullied.

    Alan
I am planning to go to the AGM so will raise this subject under AOB. I still think, if this SUV ends up being named a Mustang by Ford, that it would be difficult to exclude it from club Mustang line up at a show. This said I agree we could well be set up for a lot of ribbing thanks to Ford's stupid decision.

Don't think anyone has a problem with Ford making a SUV.
Have you seen the Bentley, that is a horrible looking car!

I’m sure that’s not the case.... but just in case anyone has a Boss 302 going for really cheap after this fiasco then please let me know.
