After ringing round a lot of different insurers the best quote I received was from Adrian Flux for 1350 for 12,000 miles. Sounds a lot compared to some of you!...but I am a young driver at 21. Graham Sykes were a bit more at 1600.

Thinking about fitting an alarm or tracker for safety, not too sure if it will bring insurance down too...if it did, added plus!

Okay it seems that due to my incident early this year I,m not too popular now with these guys.
      So renewal was 1031 Stevenage
Flux said we they were too dear last year and would be double again so 1500 plus.
Green light woulndnt quote as you need 2 years no claims.
Classicline -Darren bloke never rang me back despite promising, but when I called same result as Greenlight.
So ended up with Sykes at 951.
      Phew :-s

Cheaper than last year. but some of the quotes from companies that paport to be american car specialists were shocking.

I dont understand that, i just got quoted by Flux, and as you know our cars are very similar in power etc, i have a clean licence and history.
        Parked on my drive
        they want 1200
        Madness.
Classicline wouldnt insure me, car is to new, and not in a garage.
SYKES, Just quoted me 530, which is 150 cheaper than MCE last year.
So i know where im going.

Funny how it varies so isn't it.... normal suspects were in the same ball park for me - but Classic Line were the cheapest... mines 2009 and not in a garage..... but then isn't super charged...

Insurance for my 05 GT is due next week.

Got a letter from MCE asking me to contact them about renewal which I did about a fortnight ago. I was told that they were expecting a renewal quotation immenently and that they would call me back. Very quiet!!

Contacted the recommended insurers and Adrian Flux was the best by quite some margin. Also less than MCE cost of last year.

3,000 miles, garaged plus Eibach suspension upgrade and Ford Racing 5-spoke alloys. Plus I am old!!

                  What fun that has been.

Prices ranging from 850 to won't quote.

                  A few around 650 - 700

Ended up switching to Adrian Flux with unlimited mileage for 593.

There is no doubt it's all very random and I just pulled this quote off Pistonheads from a BROKER

"Also if you are insured with Chaucer for instance I know they will increase your premium by 20% just due to the car being new to you and that you have no experience in that car (which is a load of crap) alone. Not saying this is right. Just letting you know what I know."

You can see how arbitrary some of the loadings must be and it seems you have to "prove yourself" before they'll make a derisory drop in premium.

                            HELP!

Just tried ringing round for the Shelby GT500 I'm looking at buying this week. I have full NCD, no convictions, no LHD experience, only FlowMaster tail pipes and the premium interior package as upgrades on the car, it will be kept on the drive outside my house and its a 2007 model. Has the Ford alarm and Securilock immobiliser from the States but this obviously doesn't count over here as not 'Thatcham' and so far these are the results:

                            1. Swift Cover - I'm with these for the BMW Z4 M Coupe I have...and they don't insure Shelby's.

                            2. Adrian Flux - Ended up with a right snotty girl on the phone who told me that for 10,000 miles per year with NO business cover (I have to go to different stations sometimes with work so this would be preferable if I was to use the car) it would carry a 450 excess, a 90 windscreen cover excess, free key protection and legal cover for passengers between 5k-20k....and come out at 1560!? PLUS she said they would only insure me IF it had a Catagory 1 Thatcham alarm and immobiliser fitted extra which I am not happy about doing as I have heard that the alarm can interfere with the factory fitted alarm already on there (problems Jeremy Clarkeson had with his Ford GT?)?

I've run out of time for any more quotes tonight and will carry on tomorrow morning trying A-Plan, Graham Sykes and ClassicLine and hopefully I will get a sensible quote. I have seen a few people mention 'MCE' but from what I know MCE is a motorbike insurer so if anyone can advise on this I'd be grateful :)

Also is it worth becoming a member of MOCOGB for the discount on these quotes or does it sort of balance out? I'm looking at joining anyway but at the moment it feels like I've got 101 things on my to-do-list to even get this car on the road lol!

Any advice guys would be welcomed

                            Cheers

                            Matt
