    Bought my first Mustang

    Hi,

I’m Leonard, I’m a service engineer working on scientific analysis equipment based in Manchester.

I just traded in my BMW M140i and picked up my Mustang this afternoon. I’m already impressed with the handling of it compared to my M140i and the noise from the V8 is addictive.

Hoping to get to some shows next year as well as some meets in the area.

    Thanks

          Hi,

Love the colour as well but I might be bias now , no upgrades as yet but just looking around at what I can get without incurring the wrath of Ford when it goes in for a service etc.

            Nice car and colour!
I was interested to read this, as I have an M135i (the proper one, 3.0 RWD) besides the Mustang, and I struggle to decide which is better in terms of handling. The Mustang feels stiffer and a little more stable than the BMW, even though the BMW has active damping and the Mustang does not; but the BMW has better steering feel and seems more predictable (better tyres, both are on their standard fitment).
The Coyote is just a lovely engine though; the BMW is fast but sounds false compared to the V8.

So far I love the engine but not the tendency to "snap oversteer", I've been looking at ways to tighten up the chassis to reduce the risk of this and make it a more enjoyable drive. I could ease off the accelerator but that will make the engine quieter

You need to firm up the suspension, especially in the rear. I found as standard that the car had a tendency to transfer all the weight to the outside coming off bends or roundabouts (as all cars do) but then as you straighten the car up the weight would swap over to the other side and cause the back end to get a wobble on. Lowering the car on decent coilovers or springs helps a lot with removing that wallowy disconnected feeling at the back and as a bonus looks much better

I hate to plug it but I only have a few items left for sale from my car which is now sold, and I think some of them would alleviate a lot of the trouble you're having. Steeda sport Progressive springs, adjustable bump stops, subframe inserts, camber bolts and spacers.

Do your research and decide for yourself but this would be a great setup for a road car if I do say so myself
