    exhaust manifold

    hi all
    has anyone changed there L/H/S exhaust manifold gasket
    just asking as mine is slightly blowing
    is it better to be done when engine has been driven and allowed to warm down ???
    or when the engine is cool with WD40 on the nuts ????
    any answer would be grateful

    I've always removed manifold nuts on a cold engine. Get a bit of squeaking but never had any real problem removing them.

      Took mine off cold too good squirt of WD and crossed everything that wasnt holding the spanner, came off fine

        I personally use PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench (sold on eBay I think) rather than WD. Much better at penetrating rust.

        Mine came loose pretty easily, but if you are having trouble heat the bolts

          Plusgas or Freeway also very good - WD is fairly useless as mentioned above. Sometimes a very slight tightening of the nut can break the rust seal before loosening. Sounds illogical but it's an old trick of the trade
