  • I would add: Right at the start, remove the distributor and place on a bench without turning it. Once the heads are off, replace the distributor before you turn the engine over - for example to de-coke the piston crowns. This preserves your ignition timing within reasonable limits.     Thanks to both Allan and Ron. I did as a test, wire it the simple way suggested by Allan. Removed the switch from the rad hose and played a heat gun on it - when VERY hot it did kick in. But again in freshly boiled water (100 C) the switch rated at 95 C would not operate. I think it's wrongly calibrated...
