I would get the ignition timing checked before you drive it any further, you could badly damage the engine if the timing is retarded a lot. This may cause all of the problems you are experiencing.

    Not true
You cannot have the dual bulb in the front turn signal / side light. They have to be separated as the stock sidelight would show amber, that would not pass an MOT. Putting the sidelight in the headlamp is easy to do and I managed it without cutting any original wires....

    replied to Fueling/fuel line problem
Only other thing I can think of is there is a split or hole in one of the rubber joins that you cannot see, and the pump is drawing air.

You could disconnect the inlet line at the pump and put a rag into the filler hole and with an airline pressurise the tank and see if it pushes fuel out...

Try disconnecting the inlet line to the pump and have someone crank the engine, stick your finger over the inlet port on the pump and see if the pump is sucking when bolted to the engine. I had a mechanical pump stop working due to eccentric drive issues....

On a stock non power disc / drum car Ford fitted a proportioning valve in the rear line to balance the braking effort front /rear, if you do not have one fitted this may be part of your issue ?
The cars that got disc / drum were GT cars and cars optioned for factory disc set up.
    The valve...

    replied to Carb identification
Should be an Autolite 2100...... but is it ? may well be a knock off, top cover has cross head screws.
The Autolite carbs have an ID tag under one of the top cover screws, if that is missing the model number is stamped on the outside of the front bolt down foot, on the driver side, as in the...

Ford fitted either a 2 bbl Autolite 2100 or a 4 bbl 4100 as stock depending on what engine code you have. In order for guys on here to advise you need to establish what carb you have.

  • Might be worth checking that goldy coloured screw in filter at the carb, it does not take much to block those up.

  • The pump is a mechanical pump driven off the end of the camshaft, it will only supply fuel when the engine is turning, either by cranking on the starter or running. It is a suction pump and pulls fuel from the tank. The sender in the tank does not do anything other than read fuel level and have outlet...
