    Currently looking at Sterling Grey, but Pepper Grey looks good too (if a tad obvious).

    Need to see both in the metal really, but I suspect I'd be happy with either...

    Ok - a long overdue update, but there's been a lot going on! The car has now arrived at Phil King's and will be wheeled in tomorrow when a certain '71 Blue Mach 1 vacates...

    I had a good chat with Phil about what I want done and then had a good look around the car - first time I've seen it since the dipping. Pics below. Overall, not too bad, but the welding on the floor-pan is comically bad, the quarters will need replaced, the trunk lid and doors had fillered rust holes in them and there's a few bullet holes in one of them:

    Wow amazing photos. Re the bullet holes, a previous owner wasn't Mr E. Presley was it?

    No, but he was definitely a cowboy (judging by the welds, re-spray, wiring, etc, etc)! Plus, the car'd been laid up in Texas - I think bullet holes are pretty much standard in that circumstance.

    Interesting photos and a lot of good work. It kind of looks frightening but with all the panels that can be bought for these cars I am sure it will be looking solid again pretty soon.

    I certainly wasn't solid previously - there were, at places, three layers of 'floorpan' on there, not much of which was welded to the frame rails...

    Not easy to make out but the replacement floor that had previously been fitted was at least 30mm above the floor support.
